Status: OPEN until filled

Posted: April 24, 2026

All Construction Services is seeking qualified applicants for the Full-Time year-round position of Heavy Equipment Operator. M-F, 7-3:30.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Equipment Operation: Expert operation of machinery (excavators, bulldozers, loaders, rollers, skid steers, some equipped with Trimble Earthworks) while earthmoving, grading, excavating, and backfilling. Emphasis on bulldozer operation.
Precise Grading: Use GPS/GNSS machine control to achieve sub-grade and finish-grade tolerances (typically within 0.1 ft) without the constant need for manual grade stakes.
System Setup: Perform daily calibration and “benching” of the GPS system; troubleshoot connectivity issues with base stations or VRS networks
Data Management: Monitor cut/fill data in real-time to ensure material is moved efficiently, reducing “re-work” and over-excavation
Support Tasks: Assist with manual labor, such as trenching, pipe setting, or cleanup when equipment is not in use
Site Preparation: Assist with site preparation, including clearing, leveling, and structural excavation.
Maintenance: Perform daily pre-and post-operation inspections, including checking fluids and greasing machines; report or repair mechanical issues.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA, federal, state, and company safety regulations. Wear proper PPE and participate in safety meetings.
Project Collaboration: Work with the site foreman & other employees, electricians (when applicable), and project managers to meet deadlines

Required Skills & Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

Experience: 3+ years of experience specifically using GPS-guided systems for fine grading or underground utility placement.
Technical Literacy: STRONG Ability to navigate on-board computer interfaces (e.g., Trimble TD520) to select the correct project files and surfaces.
Manual Proficiency: Must still demonstrate the ability to “run by eye” or use traditional lasers/stakes if GPS signal is lost or unavailable.

Key Physical Requirements:

Lifting: Must be able to lift and carry 50 to 100 lbs. occasionally, with frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. to move tools, materials, and equipment parts.
Manual Labor: Capacity to perform strenuous manual tasks (shoveling, hammering stakes, or using jackhammers, compactors) when not operating machinery.
Repetitive Motion: Frequent use of arms and hands to signal, grab, turn, and push controls
Three-Point Contact: Ability to safely climb on and off heavy mobile equipment by maintaining three points of contact (two hands/one foot or one hand/two feet).
Agility: Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl to perform daily inspections or navigate tight construction areas.
Coordination: Excellent hand-eye-foot coordination is essential for operating multiple levers, pedals, and steering mechanisms simultaneously
Vision: Standard requirements often include at least 20/40 acuity (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish colors (red, amber, green) for safety signals.
Depth Perception: Critical for accurate grading, trenching, and operating near other workers or obstacles.
Hearing: Must be able to hear normal sounds, voice patterns, and warning signals over the noise of heavy machinery.
Endurance: Ability to sit or stand for long shifts (8–12+ hours) while subjected to constant whole-body vibrations
Environmental Tolerances: Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow), high noise levels, and dust/fumes
